Day 17 - Tue 16 Jun 15: Augsburg to Munich
Estimated km: 70; Actual km: 88; Total km: 819; Ride time: 5h38m; Start time: 8am; End time: 3:30pm; Av speed: 15.5 kph 12-22 deg C, cloudy with some sun, no rain. It was good to get a 7am brekkie and hit the road by 8am to beat the peak hour traffic. Europeans tend to start later than us in the main, and most shops don't open till 10am, therefore traffic is not usually a problem until at least 8:30-9 am. We had initially planned to go via Dachau (Nazi concentration camp) today but after checking the profile (a lot of lumps) we decided to go further south. It ’ s so good to have technology to help us make these decisions. However it was 20km longer. The ride out of Augsburg was fairly straight forward, albeit a little stoppie-startie due to all the traffic lights. As this wasn't a well-worn route for cycle tourers we had to cuff it.
