Day 20 - Fri 19 Jun 15: Munich to Muhldorf am Inn

Estimated km: 94; Actual km: 91; Total km: 910; Ride time: 5h; Start time: 8am; End time: 2:30pm; Av speed: 18.1 kph

13-17 deg C, cloudy with an occasional brief glimpse of the sun. A few spots of rain but not enough for raincoats.

Another great brekkie was consumed and we were on the road by 8am. The roads out of Munich were busy but as we were heading East from the East side of the city we missed the worst of it. Because of the clouds and drizzle it felt cold early and some stopped to apply another layer of clothing.

There was no real cycle route today, just a series of little villages and towns to navigate through.  There were a lot of off-road bike paths or quiet back-roads, but occasionally we found ourselves mixing it with traffic, some of it very heavy and very frantic. However, the vast majority of drivers are super-careful around cyclists, especially the truckies.  There were a few gut-busting hills but most of the route today was either downhill or flat.  We experienced some lovely countryside, with villages scattered all over the place, each with a church steeple sticking up to mark their place in Germany.  The wind was from behind us all the way except for a few brief periods when we double-backed. We were pleased to have a tailwind on this rather long day. The crops in this area of Germany are of incredible quality and bigger areas than we've seen closer to the big cities.  We met the Inn River today which we are going to follow for a few days.  Its waters are a smokey-blue colour due to it coming off the alps; so we have been informed.

Due to our hotel (Mi Hotel Muhldorf, with the worst wifi experienced thus far) being a few km out of town, we elected to eat in tonight (Mick & Kate's pick) and it was OK; buffet with a choice of veggies and salads, plus pasta, rice and meat dishes. All for A$14 ea. Oh, and all the apple crumble you can eat; with yoghurt salad dressing.  Well when you've ridden over 90km on a bread roll and apple, crumble with anything will taste okay!!
